Lamprey drone is a multi-mission autonomous undersea vehicle (MMAUV)

The Lockheed-Martin new drone can attach itself to other surface vessels and submarines. This enables the drone, known as “Lamprey,” to operate alongside other vessels. One of the most interesting details in this drone is that. It can connect itself to any other vessel. The idea is “stolen” from the Russian Kashalot, or “Uniform”-class submarine. The 69 m. long. A nuclear-powered submarine can be connected to the Borei-class submarine. 

The Russian navy has only two of that class. Of submarines. The difference between Lamprey and Kashalot is this. Kashalot is a manned system. Lamprey is fully autonomous and smaller. But. If that system uses. The radio thermal generator, RTG. The operational range of that underwater drone is unlimited. If. Something attacks the vessel. Which. Carries the Lamprey. The Lamprey can separate itself. And then make the counter strike. Or the Lamprey can jump under some other vessel. And then that drone can slip into the enemy base.

The Lamprey is the smaller version of the U.S Navy manned and more limited. And retired “Mystic” and “Avalon” rescue submarines. Those submarines could dock with other submarines. And in some rumors, there were plans to use those DSRVs (Deep Submerged Rescue Submarine) for the capturing operations for other submarines. The DSRV's top speed is five knots. But a heavily modified version of that thing could carry the attack unit that can hijack other submarines. 

The DSRV-style nuclear-powered submarine can theoretically carry torpedoes. And then the DSRV can touch the hull of the targeted submarine. And then the attackers can cut a hole into the targeted submarine by using a laser. The attack crew can storm into the submarine. The “Mystic”-class submarine must be faster than it can make this operation. But. Maybe. A submarine. That uses a similar supercavitating propeller and reactor technology. The Russian Poseidon torpedo can make that operation. 

We can say. That the Lamprey-drone mimics. The fish. Which is called. The remora. Remora touches. Sharks and whales. With its suction cup. The Lamprey can make its attack stealthy. The drone can carry other aerial drones. Or launch torpedoes, or use decoy units. The thing that makes the Lamprey very special is this. It can also touch the enemy vessels and ride with them to their base. 

This means that the Lamprey-drone is the parasite. It can wait at the bottom of the sea. Then that system can wait for the target and then ride with it. The problem with those quite small drones is this. They can travel the long way to the inland. There, those drones can release their sub-drones. The small-sized drones can also transport things like drugs or guns to private actors.
